Two East Boston residents were indicted Monday in connection with the June murder of 19-year-old Blanca Lainez, the Suffolk District Attorney’s office said in statement.

Jose Hernandez, 16, and Angel Antonia Ramos-Oliva, 21, were charged with first-degree murder. The DA’s office said Hernandez has been held without bail since his arrest on July 10, and Ramos-Oliva since his September 2 arrest.

Lainez’s body was found by construction workers inside a garage at 54 Princeton St. in East Boston on June 15. Authorities said she was discovered lying on top of pieces of wood with her face covered in blood, and police determined she had been beaten and stabbed.

Hernandez and Ramos-Oliva were identified through video surveillance, forensic, and cell phone evidence, the DA’s office said. Lainez and Hernandez had “extensive” phone contact suggesting hostility between the two before the murder, according to authorities.

Lainez left El Salvador at 16 and most recently lived in Chelsea, according to Alba Azucena Lopez, the consul general of El Salvador in Boston. Arrangements were made to send her body back to her family by the Consulate General of El Salvador.

Hernandez and Ramos-Oliva are expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court at a later date.
