2 arrested, $15,000 worth of heroin seized in Andover

Two people were arrested and $15,000 worth of heroin seized after police witnessed a drug deal Saturday in Andover, police said in a statement.
Around 11:30 a.m., officers conducting surveillance in the Campanelli Road area observed Jose Morales, 27, of Lawrence, allegedly conduct a drug transaction with Christine Soukaras, 30, of Nashua, New Hampshire.
As they approached Morales’ vehicle, a 2010 Mercedes SUV, officers spotted bags of heroin in Morales and Soukaras’ possession, police said. More heroin was discovered inside the car, according to police.
Police said they seized around 350 grams of heroin from the vehicle in total, with a street value of about $15,000. Officers also confiscated Morales’ SUV and a small amount of cash.
Morales was charged with trafficking in a Class A substance over 200 grams, and Soukaras was charged with possession of a Class A substance.
Morales is being held on $50,000 bail while awaiting his arraignment in Lawrence District Court, according to police.
