Peabody man sentenced for child pornography charges

A Peabody man was sentenced Wednesday for the receipt and possession of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s office said in a statement.Patrick Lynch, 24, was sentenced to six years in prison and 10 years of supervised release, during which he must register as a sex offender, after he pleaded guilty in June 2016 to one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.In May 2013, Lynch started receiving emails containing images of children as young as 1 being sexually exploited, authorities said. A search warrant was carried out at Lynch’s home on December 12, 2014, and he admitted to receiving emails with pictures of young children naked, posing, and taking part in sexual acts, according to authorities.Lynch admitted to looking at child pornography images on a website and on his laptop while at a Boy Scout camp in New Mexico, the U.S. Attorney’s office said. He also communicated with children online and exchanged sexually explicit images.Before the search warrant was executed, he deleted the application and cleared the internet history on his phone, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.It was revealed during the investigation that Lynch was working at the Greater Beverly YMCA and had recently been hired at Beanstalk Adventure Ropes Course in Reading, authorities said.
