Woman found dead in Methuen home; police seeking person of interest
Authorities are investigating the apparent homicide of a woman who was found dead early Monday morning at her apartment in a Methuen public housing complex. Her 4-year-old child was later discovered unharmed at a relative’s home.
Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett identified the slain mother as 29-year-old Wanda Rosa during a press conference Monday afternoon. The father of Rosa’s son, Emilio DeLarosa, 32, was named as a person of interest in the investigation, and police have asked for the public’s help in locating him.

Methuen police discovered Rosa unresponsive while conducting a well-being check just before 6 a.m., according to the DA’s office. Rosa was taken to Holy Family Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities say Rosa’s death doesn’t appear to be a “random act of violence.” They said DeLarosa has a criminal history but is not thought to be a danger to the public.
Investigators said Rosa’s son was not present in the apartment when her body was found. DeLarosa took the child to a relative’s home this morning before police responded to the scene, according to the DA’s office.
Rosa’s cause of death was not released.
