The FBI has offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a convicted felon and alleged MS-13 gang member.

Efrain Vasquez-Yanez is charged with Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) conspiracy and conspiracy to distribute cocaine, the FBI said in a statement Thursday.

The fugitive, also known as “Caballo,” was indicted on January 26 along with 55 other members of MS-13, the FBI said. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Vasquez-Yanez, 34, was born in El Salvador and was last seen in Everett in July. He is believed to still be in the Greater Boston area. However, it is possible he has been moved by the gang, which has a national presence, according to the FBI.

“Due to the aggressive, violent, and impulsive nature of MS-13 gang members, the FBI believes Vasquez-Yanez poses a serious danger to the public,” Harold H. Shaw, special agent in charge of the FBI Boston Division, said.

The fugitive has “homeboy” status within the gang, the FBI said. Members must commit a murder or inflict serious physical injury in the name of MS-13 to achieve this status, according to the FBI. He also allegedly acted as “protection” for the interstate transport of kilograms of cocaine for the gang.

Vasquez-Yanez has black hair and brown eyes; he’s 5-foot-7 and weighs 140 pounds, according to the FBI. He also has Grim Reaper and skeleton tattoos on his right arm, and is known to carry a firearm or knives at all times, the FBI said.
