Man arrested after assault with knife outside Falmouth restaurant

An East Falmouth man was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting a man with a knife outside a waterfront restaurant in Falmouth, police said in a statement Sunday.

Around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to 56 Scranton Ave. for a report of an assault involving a knife outside the Falmouth Raw Bar.

Police said Brendan J. Medeiros, 35, was being held down on the ground when officers arrived by friends of the victim, who were able able to take the knife away from him.

The 37-year-old East Falmouth victim was taken to the Falmouth Hospital for treatment of nonlife-threatening cuts to his left cheek and chin, according to police. He was later released.

Medeiros faces multiple charges, including assault and battery with a deadly weapon and mayhem, police said. He is currently being held on $5,000 bail.

The incident remains under investigation.
