Former mob boss Francis ‘Cadillac Frank’ Salemme indicted in connection with murder of South Boston club owner

Francis P. “Cadillac Frank” Salemme.
Former New England organized crime boss, Frank “Cadillac” Salemme, was indicted Friday in connection with a 1993 murder of a South Boston club owner. He was arraigned last month in federal court on similar charges.
The unsealed indictment charges Salemme with one count of murder of a federal witness. Authorities said Salemme killed club owner Steven A. DiSarro in his Stoughton on May 10, 1993 “to prevent DiSarro from communicating with federal law enforcement officials about violations of federal laws by Salemme and others.”
In 2003, gangster Stephen”The Rifleman” Flemmi told investigators that he walked into Salemme’s Sharon home as DiSarro was being strangled by Salemme’s now-deceased son. Flemmi later told authorities that the elder Salemme said he disposed of the body in Rhode Island, according to authorities. DiSarro’s remains were recovered by federal authorities behind a mill in Providence, Rhode Island, in March.
Salemme’s former mob associate, Paul Weadick, was also indicted on one count of murder of a federal witness Friday.
