Police: Teen was assaulted and lost in the woods
A teenager who became lost in the woods following an assault in Dudley has been found, authorities say.
A 17-year-old girl called police Sunday night to report she had been assaulted and was lost in the woods, according to Dudley police.
Officers used information from the girl as well as GPS to determine her location. The teen was located about a mile into the woods. She was taken to a local hospital and was treated and released for head and face injuries.
Investigators say the girl was at a campfire in the woods when she was “punched in the head several times by a female suspect.” The assault took place over a misunderstanding involving the suspect’s boyfriend, police say.
As a result of the incident, a male and a female will be summoned to court on assault and battery charges, police said.
