Maine State Police are trying to reunite a fugitive and his cell phone after he dropped it while fleeing on foot from troopers Saturday.

Jason Maxim, 37, of Gardiner, is wanted on outstanding warrants for operating after suspension and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, according to police. He is accused of taking a car from a dealership on a test drive without returning it, police said.

“If Maxim is reading this and would like his phone returned Troopers would gladly coordinate a meeting to arrange such a transaction,” police said in a Facebook post.

Maxim will face additional charges of failing to give a correct name and date of birth and refusing to submit to detention, police said.

Police describe Maxim as a man with brown hair and blue eyes who weighs around 155 pounds and is 5-feet-10-inches tall. Anyone who sees him is asked to contact state police at 207-624-7076.
