Lawrence elementary classroom assistant indicted on drug charges
A Lawrence public school fourth grade classroom assistant was indicted Wednesday for allegedly distributing large quantities of cocaine and oxycodone pills, the U.S. Attorney’s office said in a statement.Reynaldo Sanchez, 26, of Lawrence, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and attempted possession with intent to distribute oxycodone after being arrested in March 2016.The U.S. Attorney’s office said a federal investigation began in August 2015 into Sanchez’s involvement in a narcotics and money laundering organization based out of the Boston area. Sanchez allegedly made plans to buy 10 to 15 kilograms of cocaine at $33,000 per kilogram from undercover agents during the investigation.In March 2016, Sanchez also tried to buy what he thought were 11,000 oxycodone pills for $13 per pill from an undercover agent posing as a drug courier, authorities said.After carrying out a search warrant at Sanchez’s residence, agents recovered around 2.6 kilograms of cocaine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office. When he was arrested, Sanchez was also carrying a duffle bag carrying approximately $48,000, authorities said.
