The items allegedly found in the suspects’ possession.
Two individuals were arrested Sunday during a traffic stop in Sturbridge after allegedly being found in possession of cocaine, Massachusetts State Police said in a statement.
At about 12 p.m., state troopers stopped a Pontiac Bonneville traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 for a motor vehicle violation, according to the police.
A subsequent investigation led to the discovery of around 85 grams of cocaine in the vehicle occupants’ possession, state police said.
The vehicle’s driver, Jeannie J. Ortiz, 41, of Stoughton, and passenger, Domingo Ortiz, 51, of Lynn, were placed into custody and taken to the Sturbridge Barracks for booking, according to officials.
State police said both suspects were charged with trafficking in cocaine and conspiracy to violate drug law, and Jeannie Ortiz was also given a motor vehicle violation citation.
Jeannie and Domingo Ortiz were each held on $25,000 bail and are expected to be arraigned in Dudley District Court Monday, according to the statement.
