Two women stabbed in Waltham, prosecutors allege suspect knew victims

One woman remains in critical condition.

A man allegedly stabbed two women — one of whom remains in critical condition — at a home in Waltham Wednesday afternoon, and was later arrested, authorities said.

According to a statement from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office, a 52-year-old woman and 83-year-old woman were taken to a hospital after being found inside a residence on Weston Street shortly after noon. The 52-year-old suffered multiple stab wounds and is still in critical condition, authorities said. The 83-year-old had a cut to her hand.

The suspect, later identified as Emanual Louis, 37, of Waltham fled the scene, prosecutors said, but he was found and taken into custody. He faces charges of armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a victim over 60, the DA’s office said.

The suspect and victims knew each other and the alleged attack was not random, according to the statement.

State and Waltham police are investigating the incident.
