3 men charged in scheme that involved selling stolen Gillette razor blades online

Three men, including one who worked at the South Boston Gillette factory, are accused of stealing Gillette razor blades and reselling them online in a scheme that raked in more than $200,000, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Robert Liberatore, 51, of Wakefield, Mark Girardin, 43, of Randolph, and Joseph Evangelista, 62, of Lowell, are each facing a charge of conspiracy to transport stolen property interstate, authorities said. Liberatore and Girardin have additionally been charged with one count of interstate transportation of stolen property, according to the U.S. Attorney.

All three men were arrested Monday and released after appearing in U.S. District Court.

The U.S. Attorney’s office alleges that Evangelista stole the razor blades while employed at the factory from February to August in 2011. He then delivered the stolen blades to Liberatore and Girardin, who sold them on eBay under a business they named “Cambridge Dedicated Services,” authorities said.

In total, the three made $208,944 during the course of the scheme, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

“We take any criminal activity related to our products very seriously – and fully support the efforts of the U.S. Attorney’s Office to hold this individual accountable for his actions,” Kurt Iverson, a spokesman for Gillette, said in an email statement to Boston.com.
