Man arrested after allegedly stabbing 1 person in Salem
A man was arrested in Salem early Saturday morning after he allegedly stabbed one male victim, according to police.
Michael Castaldo faces charges of armed assault to murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, police said.
Police responded to a disturbance report on Rainbow Terrace just after midnight. At the scene, officers found a male who had been assaulted and was suffering from apparent stab wounds, police said. The victim was taken to a Boston area hospital for treatment of injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening, according to police.
After searching the area with a K-9 unit, police found and arrested Castaldo. Police do not believe that the stabbing was a random incident, and said there is no continued threat to public safety.
Castaldo will be arraigned Monday in Salem District Court.
