A Dorchester man was arrested Monday after he allegedly pointed what turned out to be a replica firearm at officers, according to police.Officers responded to a report of a person with a gun in the area of 16 Howe St. around 11:55 p.m. Responding officers said they found William Gallop, 53, sitting on a chair in a driveway yelling derogatory statements about police. As the officers approached, Gallop allegedly took what appeared to be a small revolver from his lap and pointed it at the officers. Officers drew their service weapons and ordered the suspect to drop his firearm. Police said one officer who was close enough to grab Gallop’s arm knocked the revolver out of his hand. A physical struggle followed as officers wrestled Gallop to the ground and handcuffed him, according to police.Officers discovered the firearm was a replica upon further examination. Police also said they recovered two plastic bags containing what is believed to be marijuana, and a set of nunchucks.Gallop allegedly continued to threaten the officers during the booking process, saying he would shoot the officers, and blow up their houses and the police station.According to The Boston Globe, Gallop was arraigned in Dorchester District Court Tuesday. He was charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and unlawfully carrying a dangerous weapon. Gallop pleaded not guilty and was held on $75,000 bail. Gallop was also found to be in violation of his probation in a 2011 case in which he allegedly attacked and threatened police. He was held without bail on that charge pending a probation surrender hearing.
