Pair accused of bringing weapons to Pokemon World Championships last year to appear in court Monday

Two men found with a cache of weapons after they allegedly made threats toward the Pokemon World Championships in Boston last summer will appear in court Monday on weapons charges.

Kevin Norton, 19, and James Stumbo, 28, both of Iowa, were arrested in August after they posted pictures of their weapons on their vehicle with the caption, “Kevin Norton and I are ready for worlds Boston here we come!!!’’ Police said they had driven 25 hours from Iowa to Boston with hundreds of rounds of ammunition, a Remington shotgun, an AR-15, and a large hunting knife.

Norton had previously been banned from an online chatroom related to the convention, prosecutors said last year. He was denied reinstatement by a moderator and allegedly said, “Oh, ok, that’s fine then I will just shoot him on Friday thanks.”

They are facing charges of illegally possessing a cadre of weapons, including: a shotgun, a rifle,  a large capacity weapon,  a large capacity feeding device, and ammunition.

The pair have been held since their arrest.
