Police: driver in downtown hit and run had drug-laced Rice Krispie treats
A Connecticut man who allegedly struck multiple cars in downtown Boston had drug-laced Rice Krispie treats, according to Boston police.
Jesse George Rausch, 26, of Enfield, faces charges of operating under the influence of a controlled substance, four counts of possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs (LSD), possession of Class C drugs, two counts of possession of Class D drugs, and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash causing personal injury and property damage, police said.
Police responded to a report of a crash near Rowes Wharf around 6:15 p.m. Upon arriving, officers found that a Homeland Security officer and a security officer with the Boston Harbor Hotel had apprehended Rausch after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into several cars and attempted to run from the scene.
Boston police searched Rausch’s vehicle and said they found a nitrous oxide tank — which the department’s bomb squad determined was not a threat — Rice Krispie and Trix bars packaged for resale that they believed to be laced with a hallucinogen, a pill bottle that appeared to be filled with hashish, more than $1,200 in cash, and other drug paraphernalia. Officers also reportedly recovered tabs of a substance they believed to be acid and a glass vial that appeared to contain crystal meth, police said.
