14-year-old arrested in shooting that injured woman in Mattapan

have arrested a 14-year-old in connection to a Mattapan shooting that injured one woman Monday evening.

The Mattapan juvenile, whose name has been withheld by police, faces charges of delinquent to wit, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and several firearm charges, police said.

Police received a report of a person shot on Norfolk Street around 5:30 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a 23-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police. She was transported to Boston Medical Center with injuries that weren’t considered to be life-threatening, police said.

While searching for suspects in the area, police were directed to Evelyn Street and several backyards on Clarkwood Street. Officers then found an open garage door that led to a basement at 39 Clarkwood St. There, they found three suspects and identified and arrested one as the alleged shooter, police said.
