Police: Teen tried to run over officers before multi-state chase

Jeremiah Remy, 19, was charged with four counts of second-degree assault.
A teenager tried to run over police officers with his car before leading them on a multi-state chase, authorities say.
When Salem, N.H. police officers went to the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Salem to serve a probation violation warrant to 19-year-old Jeremiah Remy, he fled the rear exit of the building and got into a white Ford pick-up truck, according to the Salem Police Department.
“As officers approached the truck in order to put Remy in custody, Remy placed the truck in drive and accelerated toward the officers, all of which needed to jump out of the way in order to avoid being struck by the truck,” police said.
Remy, from Atkinson, N.H., then took off in the truck, initiating an “extensive pursuit” through several Massachusetts and New Hampshire towns, according to police. He was captured in Lowell and taken to the Methuen Police Department in order to be booked on several motor vehicle charges in their jurisdiction, police said.
Remy faces several charges in Salem, including four counts of second-degree assault, police said.
Remy will be arraigned in Lawrence District Court on Wednesday.
