A 19-year-old mother was shot and killed outside her New Bedford apartment Sunday night after she went out to get groceries for her daughter, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office and The Boston Globe.

Sabrina DaSilva was found around 10:10 p.m. in the parking lot of 9 Bedford St., where she lived, the DA’s office said in a statement. She was brought to St. Luke’s Hospital and was pronounced dead.

According to neighbors interviewed by the Globe, DaSilva spoke multiple languages and was studying to become an interpreter. She lived in the apartment with her mother and two-year-old daughter.
