Two men charged, more sought, after fight between feuding motorcycle clubs
The simmering tension between two motorcycle clubs boiled over in May when police say two men were hospitalized with head injuries after seven men jumped them outside of a Worcester bar.
The group of men punched the victims and hit them with a large flashlight before stealing their jackets and phone, according to the Worcester Police Department. The incident happened on May 8 at Suney’s Pub.
The victims, age 25 and 54, were taken to the hospital, where the 54 year-old required surgery, police say. The men suffered lacerations to their heads and faces.
Police say the attack happened between two motorcycle clubs “that have been at odds with each other” in person and on social media.
Jake Doherty, 32, and Michael Blair, 37, both of Worcester, were arrested and charged with armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon (flashlight) and aggravated assault and battery. Police are looking for the other suspects.
The 25 year-old victim was standing outside the pub when the men attacked him, according to police. When the 54 year-0ld man came to his aid from inside, police say he was attacked in a similar manner. Witnesses told police that one of the attackers closed the pub door to keep patrons from exiting during the incident.
When investigators visited the victims in the hospital, the men were “uncooperative when asked about the motive of the attack as well as the identities of the suspects,” according to Worcester police.
Police are asking anyone with information about the other attackers to call (508) 799-8651 or send an anonymous tip to 274637 TIPWPD.
