Quincy man charged with creating fake online profiles of women to solicit acts of kidnapping, rape

A Quincy man who allegedly created multiple fake online profiles of women on an adult website and solicited acts of kidnap, assault, and rape was indicted by a Grand Jury Thursday, according to the Attorney General’s office.

Thomas Sheehan, 46, has been charged with three counts of solicitation to commit rape, two counts of solicitation to commit rape on a child, five counts of solicitation to commit kidnapping, and two counts of wanton or reckless behavior creating a risk of serious bodily injury or sexual abuse to a child, the AG’s office said.

Authorities say Sheehan impersonated three women on an adult website and communicated with other users of the site who “expressed an interest in stalking, raping, kidnapping and torturing the women and their children per Sheehan’s request.”

“This defendant allegedly put the lives of multiple women and their children at risk by using a website and a phony profile to commit acts of violence,” Attorney General Maura Healey said in a statement. “As criminals increasingly use technology to perpetrate crimes, we need to be vigilant in cracking down on these types of dangerous and disturbing schemes.”

Sheehan was arrested in January by state and Groveland police and is being held on $50,000 cash bail.
