Police: Man driving under the influence repeatedly struck median barrier of I-95 in Newton
A Shrewsbury man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly failed to stop for police and repeatedly struck the median barrier of I-95 north in Newton.
Daniel Stanton, 48, has been charged with operating under the influence of drugs, failure to stop for police, and marked lane violations.
State police said in a statement Stanton’s erratic driving was reported by another motorist. When approached by officers, Stanton allegedly refused to stop and continued driving, at slow speeds and swerving across all lanes of traffic, according to police.
His car repeatedly struck the median barrier of the interstate and troopers saw Stanton “striking himself in the head” before he pulled over on the grass infield near Exit 27 in Waltham, police said.
