Police: Gloucester woman threatened to bomb Navy ship over pollution concerns

Gloucester Police charged a 55-year-old woman with making a bomb threat after she allegedly threatened to blow up a Navy ship over concerns that it was polluting Gloucester Harbor, police said.

The USS Fort McHenry, a dock landing ship, visited Gloucester Harbor last September as part of the Gloucester Schooner Festival.

On September 6, the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Boston Command Center intercepted a marine radio transmission in which a woman said she was going to blow up the USS Fort McHenry, according to police.

The woman, who was not identified, will be will be summonsed to Gloucester District Court to face charges of issuing a false bomb threat and willful communication of false information to public safety, police said.
