Man accused of killing Bella Bond returns to court Tuesday
Michael McCarthy, the Quincy man charged with murdering Bella Bond, is due back in court Tuesday afternoon, according to the Suffolk District Attorney’s office.
McCarthy, 35, is facing a first degree murder charge for allegedly killing 2-year-old Bella Bond by repeatedly punching her in the stomach. Authorities say McCarthy, the boyfriend of Bella’s mother, Rachelle Bond, told her that Bella “was a demon anyway and it was her time to die.”
Bond is charged with accessory after the fact to murder, and both face a charge of improper disposition of a body, authorities said.
Bella Bond’s body was found in a bag on the shore of Deer Island almost a year ago. Police spent nearly three months chasing dozens of leads in the Baby Doe case before identifying her and bringing charges against McCarthy and Bond.
McCarthy will appear in Suffolk Superior Court at 2 p.m.
