Salem police searching for man who shot at officers, fled the scene
Salem police are searching for a suspect who shot at, and missed, two officers before fleeing the area Thursday evening.
Around 6:15 p.m., two officers attempted to take a man on Fairfield Street into custody, according to police. The man pulled out a gun and fired at the officers, missing both of them, police said.
The suspect fled on foot, but police said they recovered the gun near the scene.
Neither of the officers were injured in the incident. Police are asking that those in Salem avoid the area near Fairfield Street and contact police at 978-744-1212 with any information.
