Watch live: Charlie Baker holds press conference at Fenway Park vaccination site
The governor is expected to announce updates to the statewide vaccine rollout.
Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker is slated to provide an update on the state’s vaccine rollout Wednesday morning at Fenway Park in Boston, after touring the ballpark’s newly launched vaccination site.
According to his office, Baker will speak at 11 a.m., along with Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito, Health and Human Services Secretary Marylou Sudders, and Red Sox President and CEO Sam Kennedy.
The press conference comes after Fenway Park opened as the state’s second largest mass vaccination site Monday, with plans to ramp up next week to 1,250 patients a day.
Baker also said earlier this week officials were planning to provide more details on the state’s vaccination signup process, including the launch of a call center and additional tweaks to the appointment website.
The somewhat fragmented process has come under scrutiny across the United States, but especially in Massachusetts, where state lawmakers and seniors highlighted difficulties with the appointment website as Phase 2 of the vaccine rollout expanded to members of the general public over the age of 75.
Baker said Monday that the administration has been looking at other states’ vaccine websites to identify and incorporate “best practices” into their own.
