COVID

What are some habits or aspects of pandemic life you want to keep? Let us know.

2020 has brought its fair share of trials, but also maybe some new habits and practices worth keeping.

Most, if not all, of us are looking forward to when the clock strikes midnight on Jan. 1, 2021, even if this year we probably won’t be celebrating with friends and family due to COVID-19.Along with social distancing and constant mask wear, 2020 has rocked our daily routines, to put it lightly – maybe taking a sledgehammer to the old normal is a better description? In any case, life from spring 2020 through now was changed dramatically, bringing with it an extended work-from-home life for many, and the trials of crafting a new daily routine, albeit while perhaps wearing sweatpants instead of the usual business casual. This year also changed the way we enjoyed social activities, from heading to old-fashioned-style drive-in movies, to newly created outdoor dining areas to help keep restaurants running, to dropping cones along city streets to create new bike lanes, a network of which will become permanent. As we move into 2021, perhaps it’s time to look back at some of the life changes made in 2020 that might be worth holding onto once the vaccine is rolled out to the greater public, and we can put the pandemic behind us.That’s where you come in, Boston.com reader. What is something you hope to keep from pandemic life (QR codes at restaurants, expanded outdoor dining, flexible work options)? What’s a new habit, or habits, you picked up that you hope to continue? Give us your thoughts by emailing [email protected], or by responding to the survey below. We’ll share them in a future Boston.com story.
