Reopened businesses are required to display a ‘compliance attestation poster.’ Here’s what it looks like.

Businesses that are allowed to reopen in Massachusetts will need to display a “compliance attestation poster” as part of the state’s new four-phase reopening plan.
During Gov. Charlie Baker’s press briefing Monday, Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito detailed the steps businesses must take in order to reopen, beginning with phase one on May 25. The requirements include the completion of a control plan template outlining how the workplace will comply with mandatory safety standards outlined by the state, followed by a completion of a compliance attestation poster, which customer-facing businesses are required to print, sign, and post in an area that’s visible to both workers and visitors.
The poster features a checklist with four items:
- Workers are wearing face coverings and we’ve put social distancing measures in place
- We provide hand washing capabilities and we are regularly sanitizing high-touch areas
- Our staff has received training regarding social distancing and hygiene protocols
- We have established thorough cleaning and disinfecting protocols
The poster also asks customers to follow safety measures, stating “We ask you to do your part as well by wearing your face mask and maintaining social distance.”
Businesses that are repeatedly reported to the board of health for not displaying the poster may have to pay a fine.
