Mayor Marty Walsh responds to Orange Line fire

"What we don't need is another example of the MBTA disrupting the commutes of residents in Boston and beyond."

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh took to Twitter on Friday evening to address an incident that disrupted MBTA service earlier that day.

Service between Orange Line stops Oak Grove and Community College was replaced with shuttle bus service on Friday afternoon after a small fire broke out near the tracks between the line’s Wellington and Malden Center stations.

From fires to derailments, what we don’t need is another example of the @MBTA disrupting the commutes of residents in Boston and beyond,” Walsh wrote. “What we do need is critical investment now and improved public transportation for all.”

The mayor also called for “answers, solutions, and more funding” following a Red Line derailment in June.
