COMMENTARY

After 17 full-length albums and 45 years in the biz, James Taylor finally earned his first No. 1.

“Before This World,’’ Taylor’s first album of original material since 2002, was released earlier this month and now stands at the top of the Billboard 200. The Boston Globe reports that it is the first album by the folk troubador to hold that honor.

The release features Taylor’s Red Sox anthem, “Angels of Fenway,’’ which he premiered at the park on May 4.
