Hillary Clinton’s campaign store turns shoppers into human metaphors, shows talking points
Looking for some puns with your political donation? Hillary Clinton’s got you—and your torso—covered.
From the “Think Tank’’ tank top to the “Canvass Canvas’’ tote bag, Clinton’s team has spared no dad joke (or mom joke, in this case) in marketing the presidential candidate’s line of apparel and tchotchkes.

The piece de resistance is the “Everyday Pantsuit Tee.’’ It’s the tuxedo shirt of our time, and also shows that Clinton’s team is taking and running with the tropes that already surround her. It’s a smart move: When there’s a photo montage of your candidate looking like a rainbow in different colored pantsuits, you might as well embrace it.
The item names aren’t just puns for the sake of puns: The goods themselves carry political weight and shine a light onto the talking points we can expect from Clinton for the next year and a half.
There’s a needlepoint pillow with the slogan, “A woman’s place is in the White House,’’ showing the importance the team plans to place on women’s rights.
It’s also a subtle tip of the hat to Clinton’s famous line when campaigning for her husband in 1992: “I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but what I decided to do was fulfill my profession.’’ The statement upset those who saw it as a dig at stay-at-home moms.
And the millennial-friendly hat style favored by cycling hipsters everywhere says, “Hey, young things, look how much I get you. Vote for me.’’
