President Obama Almost Falls Down the Stairs, Is Cold in Boston

President Obama has had an iffy past few days. Granted, he spent today in Boston—sometimes referred to as The Best City in America—and a bad day here is like the best day ever in the Hawaii. But still, on a scale of one to “miserable,’’ Obama’s past few public appearances fall at about a “cold and clumsy.’’

Why? Because the dedication of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate was held today. Outside. In March…in Boston. Which raises the question: Who planned this thing and thought tents would be a good idea? Have they been to Boston in March? It snowed this morning.

And on Sunday—after getting back from a golf outing in Florida to balance out the impending good, old-fashioned, New England spring suffering—he almost fell down the stairs of Air Force One.

His lead-in—with that jaunty bounce in his step—reeked of confidence, so you know the minute it happened he was thinking “Ugh! I blew it! This disembark had the promise to be so killer!’’

Just goes to show that even the president can’t win ’em all.
