The brand's U.S. expansion aims to capture the business of India’s largest diaspora, which continues to grow in the region.

Tanishq, one of India’s best-known fine jewelry brands for bridal and festive occasions, is expanding deeper into the Northeast with its first New England store in Westborough, aiming to tap into the region’s growing Indian diaspora.

The 4,000-square-foot showroom opened on Dec. 4 and celebrated its launch on March 6, marking the brand’s 10th location in the United States.

“We’re excited to introduce Tanishq’s heritage of gold artistry and contemporary design while continuing to expand across the U.S.,” said Amrit Pal Singh, head of business, North America, Titan Company Limited, in a statement

The showroom has more than 5,000 designs spanning bridal collections, festive wear, statement pieces, and everyday essentials.

Tanishq is a jewelry brand from the TATA Group, owned by the Titan Company. Xerxes Desai founded the company in 1994, which has its headquarters in Bengaluru, India.

The company has more than 400 retail stores across India, North America, the Middle East, and the Far East. It is expanding rapidly in the U.S. with stores in New Jersey, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, Atlanta, Santa Clara, and most recently, Virginia, Orlando, and now Westborough.

The expansion is capitalizing on the longtime Indian diaspora in the United States. The country hosts the largest Indian population abroad, with 5.69 million people, more than half of whom are descendants of earlier immigrants, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

The region, including Massachusetts and its surrounding states, is home to nearly 40,000 Indian households.

The growing population also led to the appointment of the first consul general of India in Boston. Raghuram S., who attended the grand opening of Tanishq, assumed the position in September of last year.

In a post on X, the consul general account noted that the opening of the 10th store in the past three years signified “the expanding presence of leading Indian brands” in the U.S.
