A Dunkin’ franchisee is shutting down a Haverhill production facility and laying off 74 workers, according to a recent state filing.
NGP Management, based in North Reading, stated in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice filed on Sept. 2 that it will eliminate the jobs in early November.
In a letter to the state, the company’s director of human resources said the “entire facility” at 15 Parkridge Road, in Haverhill, is closing permanently.
The letter said the layoffs affect 45 production workers, 21 drivers, logistic supervisors, sanitation workers, managers, and a baker. A union does not represent the employees.
The filing said the layoffs will begin on Nov. 3 and continue for two weeks.
How the facility’s closure will affect NGP Management’s Dunkin’ retail store locations is unclear.
According to NGP Management’s website, the family-owned franchisee, also known as the Scrivanos Network, was founded in 1980 with a single Dunkin’ location in Haverhill and has grown to operate over 100 Dunkin’ locations across Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
NGP Management did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In a statement, Dunkin’ said the closure of the facility is due to the opening of a “new, larger, and more modern facility,” opening in Haverhill in October.
Dunkin’ says employees from the affected location will be able to apply for roles at the new manufacturing facility. Several team members have already started training and participating in production activities.
According to the Haverhill Gazette, the Dunkin’ manufacturing plant is under construction at 30 Creek Brook Drive. The close to 100,000 square foot facility will serve franchise locations in the Merrimack Valley.
