Peloton’s infamous (and extremely viral) ad features ‘Grace in Boston’
What do you think of the commercial? Let us now in the comments below.
The headlines — and there are plenty of them — say it all:
- Peloton faces backlash and ridicule over new holiday commercial (Today.com)
- New Peloton commercial sparks cries of sexism (New York Post)
- Peloton’s terrifying new ad is the best horror movie in recent memory (Vox)
- This Peloton commercial needs to calm down (The A.V. Club)
Yes, people can’t seem to stop talking about, and criticizing, Peloton’s new holiday ad, “The Gift That Gives Back.”

The commercial features “Grace in Boston” (there’s always a local connection) as she chronicles the year since her husband (presumably) gifted her a Peloton bike for Christmas in a series of selfie videos, which she then splices into a homemade movie and shows him.
As The A.V. Club puts it:
As a new commercial from Peloton makes clear, one of the best ways to accomplish this goal (of buying the perfect gift) is to give your loved ones stationary bikes that hold them hostage for at least a year of anxiety-soaked daily exercise.
Here’s just a taste of what Twitter had to say. Also, what do you think of the ad? Let us know in the comments below.
We all need to treasure the things that bring us together as a nation, as a people. Collectively hating on this Peloton ad is that thing. https://t.co/UQtUU4CCQt

Correct me if I’m wrong, but a Peloton is basically just an exercise bike for people with too much money?

You know the Peloton couple lives next to that dick who bought two GMC trucks for funsies

I want the Peloton ad where someone piles clothes on it for a year and takes pictures of the pile’s growth and feels just fine about it

The only way to enjoy that Peloton ad is to think of it as the first minute of an episode of Black Mirror

Sorry to shake things up but I’m excited to announce I’m throwing my hat in the ring and joining the presidential race and running on the single issue platform to jail everyone involved in the pitching, scripting, acting, shooting, and approval of the Peloton ad.

No offense to the Peloton lady but if your Christmas gift to me is just a video of you using the Christmas gift I got you last year then you’re not getting another Christmas present from me again
