CVS Pharmacy

is bringing same-day prescription delivery to Boston customers in early 2018, the company announced Monday in a statement. The service will be offered at no additional cost.

It wasn’t known Monday if customers in the metro area surrounding Boston will be eligible for the same-day delivery. However, the pharmacy is rolling out next-day delivery across the country, also in early 2018.

Prescription medications and a curated selection of over-the-counter products will be delivered in “secure tamper-proof packaging right to customers’ doors to assure complete privacy,” according to the statement.

Same-day delivery will begin in Manhattan on December 4, with Boston, Miami, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco following early next year.

Boston customers can already receive certain CVS products through Instacart, a grocery delivery service. The store also offers curbside pickup through its mobile app.
