Massachusetts’s Jeff Kinney earned more money last year than “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling, according to Forbes.

The acclaimed children’s book author, most known for Diary of a Wimpy Kid, earned $19.5 million in 2015, making him the second highest-paid author in the world, the magazine’s list of top-earning authors showed. Rowling, who came in third, took in $19 million.

And 2015 was a big year for Kinney for more than just his paycheck. In July 2015, he bought his own children’s bookstore store in Plainville, according to The Boston Globe.

James Patterson took the top title for the third year in a row. He earned $95 million pretax, Forbes reported.
