JetBlue brings ‘Blue Monster’ to Logan Airport as Fenway homage
Red Sox fans flying JetBlue out of Boston for Thanksgiving might recognize a Fenway familiarity when they check in at Logan Airport.

The airline’s new “Blue Monster,’’ painted on the wall behind ticketing kiosks, is a play on Fenway Park’s storied, 37-foot Green Monster in left field. Though nowhere near as tall as Fenway’s version, JetBlue’s wall borrows the format of its scoreboard.
“It’s definitely an homage to what’s hanging out in the outfield,’’ said JetBlue spokesman Morgan Johnston.
Where its green cousin shows the game’s score, the Blue Monster spells out “JETBLUE LOVES BOSTON.’’ And where the original monster lists scores from around the league, JetBlue lists its destinations from Logan and the year those flights began.
The wall was unveiled last week as part of an ongoing ticket lobby renovation at Terminal C.
JetBlue is a sponsor for the Red Sox (whose principal owner, John Henry, also owns Boston.com). During spring training, the Red Sox home is JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida, which has its own replica Green Monster. Johnston said the Red Sox signed off on the Blue Monster design.
“Certainly Boston is a big, important city for us,’’ Johnston said. “It’s our second largest city. … We love being able to reference the team.’’
Johnston said the wall is not JetBlue’s first “nod to the fandom.’’ The airline also operates a Red Sox-themed plane. He said the plane includes one red seat—like the red seat in Fenway’s bleachers, marking the purported landing spot of Ted Williams’s 502-foot homerun in 1946.
