Where does Robert Kraft rank among the NFL’s richest owners?

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, center, hoists the Lombardi Trophy for his team's win of Super Bowl XLIX as Patriots veterans hold the team's other three trophies before the team’s league opener.

If you were wondering how Robert Kraft affords to pair such fresh Nikes with all his suits, a Forbeslist published this week says the New England Patriots owner is worth $4.8 billion.

Kraft, who also owns New England Revolution, placed sixth of the list of richest NFL owners.

According to Forbes, the league’s richest owner, by far, is the Seattle Seahawks’ Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft, who is worth $17.8 billion. Allen also owns the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers, a portion of the MLS’s Seattle Sounders, and the legacy of a historically poor last-minute playcall.

The second richest owner is the St. Louis Rams’ Stan Kroenke. Valued at $7.6 million, Kroenke also owns the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche, the MLS’s Colorado Rapids, and the English Premier League’s Arsenal FC.

Rounding out the top five are Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, at $6.7 billion; Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan, at $5.6 million; and the Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, at $5 billion.

The Patriots, valued at $3.2 billion, according to Forbes, were ranked second only to the Cowboys — $4 billion — of the NFL’s most valuable teams.

According to Forbes, NFL team values have increased 38 percent since last year. The league, which for the first time dropped its tax-exempt status this year — made $7.2 billion in revenue last season.

That could buy more than a few new sneakers.
