Boston 2024 will be taking its show statewide, as it announced a series of meetings across Massachusetts to discuss its bid to bring the Summer Olympics to Boston.

The bidding group had already announced it would hold a meeting in Lowell on March 11—where it has proposed holding boxing and rowing events. On Wednesday, Boston 2024 announced it would also hold meetings in Cambridge (March 18), somewhere on the South Coast (the week of March 23), in Springfield (April 2), and in Malden (April 7).

A press release announcing the events said other meetings would be held in Worcester, Somerville, and Newton. A full schedule will be announced shortly, according to the release. The plan is to hold “20 statewide community meetings over 20 weeks.’’

Last week, Boston 2024—which has touted its proposal as compact and walkable—met with the state’s congressional delegation in Washington, D.C. The Boston Globe reported that members of the delegation from outside Greater Boston said they hoped the 2024 games, should Boston wind up hosting them, would benefit regions across the state. According to the Globe, Boston 2024 officials “said they were taking such suggestions very seriously.’’

The Republican reported that Boston 2024 is considering hosting some basketball and volleyball games in Western Massachusetts, the birthplace of both sports. Representative Richard Neal, who serves the region, told the paper: “I want to make sure this is not a Boston-centric public improvements program.’’

Boston 2024 is holding its second public meeting next Monday, February 23, at the Yawkey Club of Roxbury, after more than 500 people showed up for its first meeting on January 21. The city of Boston’s second community meeting about the bid (its first was on February 6) is scheduled for the following day at the Condon School in South Boston.
