U.S. Olympic Committee Could Choose Its 2024 Bid City Thursday

AP

The United States Olympic Committee will meet Thursday, where it may well decide which of four potential U.S. host cities to move forward with on a bid for the 2024 Summer Games. That list of cities, as you’ve probably heard, includes Boston.

The USOC got together on Dec. 16, when it heard from bidding groups from Boston, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. It said after the meeting that it had not decided among the four vying cities, and that it would meet again in early January to further discuss them and possibly make a decision.

“In the event the board selects a city, an announcement will be made following the meeting,’’ reads a press release about the meeting, which will be held at Denver International Airport.

The USOC surprised nobody when it voted in December to make a run at the 2024 Olympics. Whichever city gets the USOC nod would very likely represent the U.S. as a potential host against bids from across the world in front of the International Olympic Committee.

Boston’s bid has generated a lot of debate in the city. Learn about the bid, its supporters, its opposition, and more here.
