Dave & Buster’s #TacoTuesday Becomes #TwitterFailTuesday

Bad idea. @DaveandBusters/Twitter

It’s Taco Tuesday at Dave & Buster’s, the sports bar/restaurant/arcade game chain, and whoever runs the company’s Twitter account thinks there’s one guy who is really going to enjoy it:

Yes, some people named Juan probably do love tacos! But so do people named Sara, or Jordan, or Hannah. Some people named Juan may hate tacos. Assuming that people with Hispanic names all like a certain Hispanic food may not be blatantly racist (like, say, a Fox News personality’s belief that someone from Nicaragua “grew up on tacos’’ or MSNBC’s Cinco de Mayo celebration that featured sombreros and tequila) but it is a cringeworthy generalization. And you’d think Dave & Buster’s would’ve learned from other brands’mistakes.

At the very least, it’s not something a corporate account should be tweeting. Which Dave & Buster’s apparently realized after the fact, as the tweet has already been removed less than an hour after being posted, followed by the obligatory apology tweet:

Meanwhile, other brands somehow managed to tweet about Taco Tuesday in a way that did not make a lot of people mad:
