‘Congress Square’ Plan Proposed Outside Faneuil Hall

A patch of downtown Boston could be in line for a face lift, The Boston Globe reports.

Real estate firm Related Beal is looking to redevelop a group of buildings in an outskirt of Faneuil Hall, creating a shopping, dining, office, and residential area that would be called Congress Square.

The area is marked by Water, Devonshire, and Congress streets, as well as the throughway Quaker Lane, which would be reworked as the “heart of the project,’’ the project’s architect told the Globe. Right now, the block is home to a lot of concrete and a little bit of retail, but doesn’t offer much if you don’t need to be there. (Al’s on State Street is just a couple blocks away, though.)
