Waltham’s Watch City Brewing Closes for Good
Watch City Brewing appears to be closing down permanently, The Waltham News Tribune reports.
The Moody Street brewery closed in June, saying it needed repairs. But a restaurant equipment company now says it will auction off the brewery’s equipment. Watch City owes the Department of Revenue for meals taxes, and still owes some employees their wages, the News Tribune reports.
Phone calls to the brewery’s listed number were met with an automated message saying calls could not be received.
Watch City, named for Waltham’s historical connection to the industry, opened in the mid-1990s. Its beer was sold in a number of restaurants in Boston, Waltham, Cambridge, and Somerville.
