Market Basket Management Unclear on Store Locations
Amid employee and customer protests, Market Basket’s corporate offices launched the company’s first website Wednesday, shortly after a story went online about the fact that it did not have one.
Among the things included on the spanking new site is a common tool used by retail companies online: A store locator. The map shows each of Market Basket’s locations across New England.
Actually, it shows a little bit more than that.
The map lists Market Basket Store No. 29, in Nashua, N.H.—right off the Everett Turnpike—as a store location. However, that store was closed “about a year ago,’’ former Market Basket facilities supervisor and employee protest organizer Steve Paulenka tells Boston.com. Calls to that store are met with a disconnected line.
Market Basket protesters have said that existing management might be unclear on company details with many long-time workers having been fired, having resigned, or actively protesting by not working. In the instance of this one Nashua store, at least, they appear to have a point.
