Kids See New McDonald’s Mascot, Freak Out
McDonald’s has a new face for its Happy Meals. An actual face. With its lifelike teeth, tongue and eyes, the internet collectively decided “Happy’’ was really creepy, joining “Lemonhead’’ and the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans pair of “Pierre’’ and “King Cake Baby’’ to make 2014 the year of the terrifying mascot.
Grub Street, a NYMag food blog, recently showed children the new McDonald’s mascot. Since kids are the main demographic for Happy Meals, you’d think they’d be ecstatic to meet their new friend. You’d be wrong.
