A rare Pomsky puppy is up for adoption after breaking her leg
A breeder surrendered the dog after the injury because she could no longer be sold.
A 10-week-old Pomsky — half-Pomeranian and half-Siberian Husky — was dropped off at the MSPCA’s Boston shelter last week after a broken leg meant she could not be sold. The “spunky” puppy likely broke her left hind leg playing with siblings or her mom, shelter officials say. Her owner, a breeder, elected to give her to the shelter after the injury.Officials say Tahani may not need surgery — but a splint she’s wearing for the next four weeks means she cannot be adopted immediately. “We’re also re-bandaging her leg every week or so, which will allow us to gauge how quickly she’s healing,” Anna Rafferty-Foré, associate director of the MSPCA’s Boston shelter, said in a statement.
The Pomsky is a rare breed that shelter officials have seen only one other time in the last five years.
Tahani has “piercing blue eyes and resembles a small, chocolate brown Siberian Husky,” MSPCA spokesman Rob Halpin wrote in an email. She is being fostered in a quiet home while waiting for adoption.
