Staff assumed it would be a simple fix, but the task proved more difficult than they initially thought. Firefighters said the toy was “very rigid,” which made it challenging to cut off. After some attempts, including using a hydraulic cutter, firefighters recommended Daisy be brought to Tufts Veterinary Emergency Treatment and Specialists in Walpole.

“At first the vet staff had a very difficult time trying to get the object dislodged,” firefighters said.

Staff then sedated Daisy and used a cast cutter to remove the toy, according to the fire department. Daisy wasn’t injured.

After the ordeal, firefighter shared a photo on Facebook of Daisy receiving chin scratches with a toy-free jaw.
