Officials capture 700-pound moose and move it away from Chicopee
A 700-pound moose on the loose in Chicopee was captured, sedated, and moved to a more rural location.
The Massachusetts Environmental Police received a call about the animal on Friday night, according to the agency’s Facebook page. Because the animal was wandering around such a populated area, officials decided to sedate the moose and move it.
Officers trained in the chemical immobilization of animals successfully sedated the moose and took it to an undisclosed location. The animal was released back into the wild once the effects of the sedative had worn off.
